Plants on roofs, façades and indoors are among the most effective climate adaptation measures. Energy savings, insulation, rainwater retention, air purification, noise reduction, habitats for wildlife: there are many more benefits to green building. Its enormous significance is a focus of international attention, and regular exchange on current developments across national borders is important. At the World Congress of Building Greening experts from all over the world will come together in Berlin from 9 to 11 June 2026.

For three whole days, the focus will be entirely on green building (roof, façade and interior greening). A total of around 800 participants from Germany and abroad are expected to attend. On the first and second days of the conference, over 80 specialist presentations will be given by speakers from 23 countries (Asia, America, Africa, Australia, Europe) in 25 thematic blocks. The keynote speakers on these days include: Prof. Werner Sobek (Werner Sobek AG – Germany), Dr. Patrick Blanc (Vertical Garden „Mur Végétal“ – France), Prof. Manfred Köhler (Germany), Prof. Dr. Michael Braungart (Germany), Thomas Kraubitz (German Sustainable Building Council – Germany). Another highlight will be the world premiere of the first robotic mower designed for green roofs. In addition to the conference programme, there will be a trade exhibition, for which over 50 exhibitors have already registered. There will also be a poster exhibition offering unique insights into the latest developments and trends in green building, as well as a conference party on the first day.

On day 3 of the World Congress, expert-led tours of notable greening projects in Berlin will be offered. In addition to knowledge-sharing and presentation of best practice examples, the focus will be on networking among participants from the fields of planning, politics, local government, urban water management, industry, the real estate sector and professional associations.

The Federal Ministry for the Environment and the Berlin Senate Department for the Environment are guests

Federal Environment Minister Carsten Schneider and Ute Bonde, Berlin’s Senator for Mobility, Transport, Climate Protection and the Environment, have agreed to act as patrons of the congress. Both will address the participants and visit the accompanying trade exhibition.
